What draws you to baseball? What is special about the college game?
If you play baseball, you can play just about any sport because of how grueling the mental game is in addition to the physical game. At the college level everything is a lot quicker, and everybody knows how to play the game, and play it well. It’s all about trying to get the mental edge over your competition and developing emotional maturity.
Who is your favorite guy on the team to compete with? To compete against? Why?
I don’t have one particular guy on the team that I like to compete with, but I do like to compete with the group of guys that make up the outfield. Being a freshman, the upperclassman are constantly pushing me to get more comfortable and pushing me to step up my game on the field. My favorite guy to compete against is myself, because I like to see how far I can push my limits and see how much better or a person/athlete I can become.

What does your ideal day look like?
My ideal day would be getting at least eight hours of sleep, waking up, and eating a breakfast with bacon, eggs, sausage, and rice. From there, I would spend a couple hours out at the beach bodysurfing, and then make my way to the baseball field to take some swings. I’d end my day at the gym, getting a nice workout in, and eventually eating a shoyu chicken dinner prepared by my mother.
