Why did you choose Santa Clara?
I chose Santa Clara because it’s the perfect combination of athletic and academic.  There is an amazing culture of toughness and determination on the baseball field and everyone works to make each other better every day.  Plus it’s a beautiful campus with great weather and facilities.  It’s hard not to have fun coming out to play here.

What draws you to baseball?  What is special about the college game?
There are few sports that put you in a position to compete and dominate your opponent like baseball especially with pitching.  As a pitcher you are expected to beat even the best of hitters, but perfection is still almost impossible.  There is a perfect competitive balance in the game and I keep coming back because there’s nothing like it.  The college game just takes this to the next level.  Everything moves faster, everyone was a high school all-star, but the challenge now is to be the best of the best and rise to the top.

Who is your favorite guy on the team to compete with? To compete against? Why?
I like to compete with Michael Westra.  Because he’s a fellow pitcher, we work together a lot and are always talking trash about who’s better or who throws harder.
