Why did you choose Santa Clara?
I chose Santa Clara because of the beautiful campus, the great baseball team, how close the players are to each other, and for the a great education that will set me up after college. The baseball coaches are the best here and are straightforward with you.

What draws you to baseball? What is special about the college game?
What draws me to baseball is however much you fail at it, it still makes you want to beat the failure.  It’s the greatest sport invented. I’ve been around baseball since I started playing when I was two years old.   The appealing part is that it is played outdoors and it’s fun.  In the college game you have such great school spirit.  Also, it’s the level before pro-ball,  so it gets you prepared for that.

Who is your favorite guy on the team to compete with? To compete against? Why?
My favorite guy to compete with and against is Jose Vizcaino because we challenge each other in every aspect of we are doing that day.

Top 5 people, living or dead, to compete against? In what?

  • Ty Cobb: compete for who’s tougher
  • Satchel Paige: Learn how to pitch like him
  • Dereck Jeter: playing infield
  • Robinson Cano: challenge him hitting and on defense
  • Big Papi: challenge his clutch skills

5 people, living or dead, to have coffee with?

  • Hank Aaron
  • Mariano Rivera
  • Jackie Robinson
  • Bob Gibson
  • Reggie Jackson
  • Everyone who played in the Negro Leagues

What would you do with a billion dollars?
I would give half it to charity around the world to help people with less opportunities have a better life and future.

What do you want to be doing in 10 years?
I want to be in my 5th or 6th year in the MLB

What does your ideal day look like?
Wake up, eat, baseball, homework, sleep.

What’s the #1 item on your Bucket List?
To help this team win in any way possible and also do the best I can in the class room at all times.
